8 Months Old

I feel like I say this constantly (and truth be told, I do) but I can hardly believe that my baby is 8 months old! He turned 8 months on Sunday and I just keep thinking about how that's 2/3 of the way to 1 year! Our lives truly are a vapor...

Cayden, here are some things that you're up to at 8 months:

-You are known by your hair - it still sticks up crazy on the top of your head but the front is starting to lay down because it's getting so long. All we have to do is put a tiny bit of water in it and it's sticking back up! I think it's going to be time for your first haircut soon but I cannot bring myself to do it while you're this young!

-You are still sleeping about 12 hours a night - hallelujah!

-You are becoming a stickler for your routine. You do not do well if we have to go off the routine. You have been fussy several nights over the past couple weeks because you were off of your routine at some point during the day.

-When you smile, your entire face lights up. I don't think I've ever seen anyone that smiles with their eyes the way you do. It totally melts my heart!

-You aren't crawling around on all 4's but you are doing this sort of scoot/army crawl thing to get around. We're expecting you to be crawling anyday and are going to have to baby proof the house very soon.

-You're not loving your stationary entertainer quite so much anymore. You'll only sit in it for about 10 minutes and then you've had enough!

-You love it outside.

-You still enjoy the Where's Cayden game.

-You love it when we play chase. I will hold you and we slowly run away from daddy. You watch him chase us over my shoulder and laugh and laugh.

-You have a fabulous appetite and are an impatient eater. Daddy jokes that you would eat all day if we let you! You remind me of a little bird when you eat. As soon as you're done with one bite, you're opening your mouth for the next.

-You have the cutest little belly laugh. It makes daddy and I both very happy to hear it!

-You are happy when you wake up in the mornings and will joyfully play in your crib for 30 minutes by yourself. I usually don't leave you for that long, but it's nice when I am in the shower when you wake up!

-You still do good in the nursery at church. You definitely prefer me and daddy but you will go to just about anyone, unless you are very tired and then it's hit or miss.

-You have learned to give kisses and it's so cute. You open your mouth big and wide!

-You are happy 90% of the time and we feel so blessed to have such a sweet, cooperative child!

-Your typical daily schedule is:
-Wake up at 8:30 AM
-Eat
-Play
-Nap from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM
-Wake up
-Eat
-Play
-Nap from 3:00-4:30 PM
-Eat
-Play
-Eat again
-Bath
-Bed around 8:30 PM

-We think you're going to be shy. You jabber up a storm when we're home and it's just the three of us and then people come over and you get quiet. You start talking around them but it takes you a little while to warm up.

-You wake up from naps unhappy only when you haven't slept long enough.

-So far you love prunes, pears, sweet potatoes, peaches, raspberries, squash, mango, apples, avocados, and banana. You aren't too sure what to think about green beans, peas, and carrots but you will still eat them.

-You are not quite as cuddly as you used to be, but you still like to snuggle fairly often and we are enjoying it while it lasts!

-You have developed this cheesy smile when you know I'm taking your picture. I don't know where you learned it or how you figured out what I'm doing, but it cracks me up!

-You have 2 teeth on the bottom and we think another is trying to poke through on the top.

-You love Ace. You stare at him and try to touch him when he's close enough. If he's doing something really amusing, you laugh outloud at him and it's so cute!

-You have the most beautiful blue eyes.

-You still think daddy is hilarious. I think that will be the case for a while and I love it!

-You still have blowouts a few times a week. I wonder when this will stop!

-You have started sucking your thumb on occasion.

-Your daddy and I fall more in love with you everyday. You are wonderful and we are forever blessed to be your parents!
