A whole lot of nothing

I feel like there is a ton to post about, but when I finally sat down to write about it, it doesn't seem like all that much. We're very busy, so I guess that makes me think I should have a lot to write about. I will just try to hit the highlights and appease family and friends far away with a few pics of our little blue eyed sweetheart!

As of June 1st, the Day family will be taking up residence here!

We're still trying to tie up all the loose ends - get all the paperwork to the lender and finalize all of our homeowners insurance, set up all of our utilities, rent a moving truck, buy the new furniture that we need/want immediately, pick out paint colors, etc. You know the drill. But it's all fun stuff and we're enjoying it.

Cayden is growing so fast and I find myself wishing, in some moments, that time would stand still. We are loving the age he's at. He's enjoying playing with his toys and his personality is coming out more each day. He has the cutest little laugh and is very ticklish. He's very curious and is constantly taking in his surroundings. He's not a big fan of the dark and doesn't really enjoy super loud noises. Last night we took him to this restaurant where they play loud music and it's fairly dark in there and he let us know that he was not a big fan. I think one of his love languages is going to be words of affirmation because he LOVES it when you look into his eyes and talk sweet to him. He smiles real big and talks sweet back. I love it. It's one of my favorite things in the world. He's not a very good sleeper, which in turn means that I'm not sleeping very well either. I might post more on this later (because it's a long story) but suffice it to say that we're working on it. He loves to be outside and I'm really excited about this summer with him. We have a wood deck in the backyard of our new house and I have a strong feeling that we'll be living in our backyard this summer. Since I last posted, Cayden had his 4 month shots (which were awful for both of us but at least I didn't cry this time!) and got a good report from the pediatrician. He weighed in at a healthy 15 lbs, 6 oz and is in the 75th % for weight! He was 26 3/4 inches long and is in the 95th % for length...we have a tall boy! And his head is still small...10th%. He's doing everything he supposed to according to the doctor so we were glad about that. We started him on rice cereal a few nights ago. The first two times I made it, it was a little too thin but last night it was thicker and he really liked it. He's taken right to a spoon just like he's known how to eat all along. He actually opens his mouth when he sees the spoon and as soon as he gets close enough to it, he attacks it. It's pretty funny. We thought it might help his sleeping but so far it hasn't made a huge impact. Cayden is being dedicated at our church on Father's Day and we're very excited about that.

We celebrated our first Mother's Day last weekend and it was great. On the Saturday before Mother's Day, my two boys took me shopping and it was so great. We went all around town shopping for things for the house and Collin surprised me by stopping by James Avery and let me pick out some earrings that I love for Mother's Day. Then he took me clothes shopping for my birthday, which was the next day. It was a wonderful day and I loved it! We went and had a nice Mother's Day dinner with my parents at MiMi's on Sunday evening. My parents gave me a steamer for Mother's Day, which is exactly what I wanted because I didn't have one and I plan to make all of Cayden's baby food and steaming is a way healthier way to cook veggies. I am so excited to start using it! It was a very nice first Mother's Day.

Collin is still loving his job and we're so thankful. Our new house is a lot closer of a commute for him so we're pumped about that. He's still involved in a Bible study with some other guys here in the area and is very blessed by that. He's also going to be playing in an indoor soccer league here in town starting the end of this month. Collin is the type of guy that always needs to be doing something active, so he's excited about this. I am going to be doing Beth Moore's Esther study this summer with a group of wonderful girls and I'm really pumped about that.

I feel like there's a lot more but cannot really think of it now. Here are some pics of our boy!

Playing video games with daddy

He does this precious thing when he smiles real big where he puts his fists up by his face. It's so cute, we love it!

Mother's Day...isn't his little smocked outfit so precious?!? It wasn't quite manly enough for Collin's taste, but he looked cute!

He's absolutely scrumptious...when you're a mommy, you know that it's absolutely natural to ascribe food adjectives to your child :)

Playing with daddy - he loves to grab our faces

Such a sweet smile!

First time trying rice cereal - he wasn't sure what to think at first but after a couple bites, he was hooked!

"What? Doesn't everyone wear their food all over their chin and down their front?"

Your house is precious! I love it! I can't wait to see pictures of the inside.

And I love all the pictures of Cayden. He is SO stinkin' cute. And do you all have the same carseat? That's hilarious!
